Instruktion:
Michael Haneke

Ivans Barndom
(Ivanovo Detsvo, Sovjetunionen 1962)
Instruktion:
Andrei Tarkovsky

Andrei Tarkovsky's prize-winning debut feature is an extraordinarily moving view of war and revenge. 12-year old Ivan is determined to avenge his family's death at the hands of the Nazis, and he joins a Russian partisan regiment as a scout. His ability to slip through enemy lines more easily than an adult makes him useful to the army, but, as his missions become increasingly dangerous, it is decided that he must be removed from the front line. Ivan resists and convinces his commanding officers to allow him to carry out one last expedition

Mor og Søn
(Mat i syn, Rusland/Tyskland 1997)
Instruktion:
Aleksandr Sokurov

Alexander Sokurov’s extraordinarily lyrical film is a beautiful and tender exploration of the deep affection between an ailing mother and her devoted adult son. Set in a hauntingly beautiful landscape which Sokurov’s camera transforms into stunning cinematic canvases, the pair recall happier times as the dutiful son lovingly nurses his ailing mother in her final hours.

Syndromes and a Century
(Sang Sattawat, Thailand/Østrig/Frankrig 2006)
Instruktion:
Apichatpong Weerasethakul

Dubbed 'a hospital comedy of a somewhat metaphysical bent', Syndromes and a Century is inspired by the Weerasethakul's memories of his parents, both doctors, and of growing up in a hospital environment. The two central characters interact with a bizarre array of professional colleagues and patients with their various strange maladies, including an elderly haematologist who hides her whisky supplies in a prosthetic limb, a Buddhist monk suffering from bad dreams about chickens, and a young monk who once dreamed of being a DJ and now forms an intense bond with a singing dentist whom he believes to be the reincarnation of his dead brother. It is a film of two halves - the first set in a sunlit rural hospital amid lush, tropical vegetation, the second in a hi-tech urban clinic under fluorescent lighting. Certain scenes from the first half are replayed in the second - almost but not quite identically.

22. april
Café Lumière
(Japan/Taiwan 2003)

Café Lumiere follows the travails of Yoko, an independent young woman living in contemporary Japan. Three months pregnant but with no intention of marrying the father, she must deal with the concerns of her parents and the pressures of her hectic modern life.

29. april
The Wayward Cloud
(Tian bian yi duo yun , Frankrig/Taiwan 2005)
Instruktion: Tsai Ming-Liang

Taiwan is beset by a terrible water shortage. TV stations are advising the population to economise drastically, and to drink watermelon juice. But, as always, people are finding their own solutions to the drought. Shiang-Chyi secretly fills discarded bottles in public toilets, while Hsiao-Kang takes midnight baths in rooftop storage tanks. They drift like clouds, never touching. Survival is hard, but loneliness is impossible to bear. Shiang-Chyi finds a watermelon, and on the same day encounters Hsiao-Kang. She remembers buying a watch from him when he worked as a street vendor. He's a porno actor now, but she doesn't know that yet.

M sagde ...

Mit liv blev da i al fald omstyrtet, selvom jeg nu vil mene, at vi alle er lidt indspist akademiske.
